Korean actor Wi Ha-joon is basking in the glory of the success of “Squid Game” and said he was excited to work with one of South Korea’s top stars in the series.
“Squid Game” is now the No. 1 show on Netflix in 82 countries and territories and No. 2 in India, according to streaming analytics website FlixPatrol.

Wi Ha-joon, 30, plays the role of Hwang Jun-ho, a policeman who goes into the place where the deadly games are played to find his missing brother.
That missing brother turns out to be Korean star Lee Byung-hun, one of Korea’s most respected actors.
Being part of “Squid Series” was already a big thing for Wi Ha-joon but to act with Lee Byung-hun was a big bonus.
“‘Squid Game’ was going to be made by such an amazing director and actors/actresses that I really wanted to become part of it,” he told the press in an interview on Sept. 30, according to SBS News.
He said he auditioned for the role of Hwang Jun-ho and “did my best at the audition, and thankfully managed to get my part in the series.”
When he learned that he and Lee Byung-hun would play brothers in “Squid Game,” he became excited as he is his fan.
“I was told that Lee Byung-hun’s character and my character were brothers prior to the shooting. I was so excited about that,” he said.
Wi Ha-joon added, “When I met Lee Byung-hun, I got super excited. Actually, I was really excited even before I met him. I’ve always been his fan. I love his acting.”
“After filming together, I realized even more that he was an incredible actor. Every line and expression he delivered made my heart beat fast. We ate together, and he took such great care of me then. Not only was he caring, but also was friendly. I was very touched. He treated me extremely well,” he said of Lee Byung-hun.
Wi Ha-joon is on the cover of the October 2021 issue of Men’s Health Korea magazine where he shows off his great body.
