After making history with her film “Lingua Franca,” trans woman filmmaker Isabel Sandoval is now set to conquer US TV.
According to a Variety report, Isabel “has been tapped to direct an episode of the upcoming FX drama series, ‘Under the Banner of Heaven.’”
Based on a novel by Jon Krakaeuer, the series stars Andrew Garfield, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sam Worthington, Wyatt Russell, and Gil Birmingham.
Of course, Isabel is happy about it.
She announced the news on social media recently.
She tweeted, “For my first-ever TV Job, I’m directing Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar-Jones in a limited series.”
Isabel also shared in a separate tweet how she “made Andrew Garfield laugh on set yesterday.”
The Filipina first gained notice with her third feature “Lingua Franca,” becoming the first film ever directed and starred-in by an openly trans woman of color to make it to the Venice International Film Festival.
