Korean actor Yoo Teo, 40, tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after returning to South Korea from the US.
C-JeS Entertainment, his agency, announced on Oct. 4 that “actor Yoo Teo was confirmed to have COVID-19 this morning (Oct. 4).”
“On Oct. 1, Yoo Teo tested negative upon returning home after finishing filming in the US. But due to symptoms of high fever, he was later retested and was tested positive [for COVID-19),” the agency added.
The agency said Yoo Teo will suspend all schedules and follow the guidelines of quarantine authorities. Family, staff and employees who have overlapped movements or close contact with him will undergo tests immediately.
“We will actively cooperate with the government policy and do our best to manage quarantine and at the same time make every effort to manage actors and staff,” it said.
Yoo Teo was cast as lead in the movie “Past Lives” and left for the US in August. “Past Lives” is co-produced by CJ-ENM and A24, which was behind the film “Minari.”
“Past Lives” also stars Greta Lee and John Magaro, and will be the directorial debut of Celine Song.
Yoo Teo made a name for himself for playing the role of Victor Tsoi in the Russian musical film “Leto,” which was invited to the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. He also starred in the Korean movie “New Year Blues” released last February with co-stars Kim Kang-woo, Yoo In-na and Yoo Yeon-seok. His drama credits include “Money Game,” “Chocolate” and “Vagabond.”
