Kylie Padilla, Andrea Torres thankful to GMA-7 for supporting BetCin

Kylie Padilla and Andrea Torres are thankful to their home network, GMA-7, for allowing them to do the WeTV’s Girls Love (GL) series, BetCin.

The series directed by Shugo Praico follows the troubled relationship of same-sex couple Beth and Cindy as played by Kylie and Andrea..

There were initial concerns how GMA-7 would react to the project, especially how it would affect the image of Kylie and Andrea, two of the network’s leading actresses.

However, at the BetCin media conference on October 12, 2021, the two Kapuso stars say the network has nothing but full support for them in their new project together.

Gleefully, Andrea tells Sam YG, the event host, “Very supportive sila with the project…

“I think they know din kasi na ito iyong mga gusto naming gawin ni Kylie, iyong kakaiba, iyong medyo nakakagulat, hindi ine-expect ng tao from us.

“So very thankful din talaga na pinayagan nila kaming gawin ito.”

Kylie, for her part, shares, “Sobrang natuwa ako kasi they really liked our work, nagme-message sila sa akin when the trailer came out.

“Natutuwa ako na na-appreciate iyong work ko kasi I really really love the character talaga and the project, and natutuwa ako, siyempre, they are my bosses.

“If they like my work, I feel like everything that I felt towards the show was validated.”

BETCIN A BLESSING FOR KYLIE

Kylie is over the moon, ecstatic in fact, talking about how much she enjoyed getting under the skin of Beth, her character in the series.

She declares, “This show was such a blessing for me kasi it came at a time where I really wanted to sink my teeth into a project that I really love, into a character that I wanted… mawala si Kylie and dun muna ako.

“Papasok muna ako sa shoes niya [Beth] and mawawala muna ako.

“I just had so much fun. And this show is the perfect project for that kasi when I read the script, na-in love talaga ako kay Beth.”

Laughing, Kylie adds, “Hindi ko pa nga natatapos iyong first episode, I was like… ‘Oh my gosh! I know her, I need to give this character justice.’

“I know what she’s going through, I know her wants and needs, and I just knew na kaya kong gumawa ng isang character na mae-enjoy ko.

“It wasn’t really a challenge, I had so much fun… bitin ako, I really want to play her again.”

LOVE LESSONS FROM BETCIN

When asked about her biggest takeaway from the series, Kylie points to how social social media has affected society and people.

She expounds, “Napatanong din ako sa sarili ko, sa personal life ko na, ‘Ano bang impact ng social media ko sa buhay ko? Am I doing too much? Am I sharing too much?’

“’What is my truth and how can I make my life better and productive and balance everything out?” Iyon iyong natutunan ko talaga.”

Produced by Rein Entertainment, the same producer behind the award-winning iWant TFC series Bagman, this eight-episode series is set to premiere this Friday, October 15, via the streaming apps WeTV and iFlix.
