With the 2022 Philippine elections fast approaching, Pia Wurtzbach made sure she would be able to cast her vote, even if she may not be in the country at that time.
On September 17, the beauty queen shared on Insta how she went to the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to register to vote.
“A little story… The last time I was in Abu Dhabi, I realized that I might not be home in the Philippines come elections time. And I don’t want to miss these coming elections.”
Foreseeing that she may be in the UAE at the time of the national elections, Pia decided to register to vote in Abu Dhabi.
“Since I’ll be flying between Abu Dhabi and Manila more frequently next year, which might be the case on May 9, 2022, I immediately went to the Philippine Embassy last time I was there to register and make sure that I’ll be able to cast my vote even when I’m not in the Philippines. Whether I’ll be working or traveling, this is my PROMISE to myself and my COMMITMENT to my country that I will be able to cast my vote on May 9.

“YOUR VOTE MATTERS. Let’s all do our part. Kung mahal mo ang Pilipinas, [gamitin] natin ang ating karapatan na bumoto para sa ating bayan.”
Pia flew to the UAE in July 2021 to reunite with her boyfriend, entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey. On Twitter, Pia confirmed that she had been affected by the then partial lockdown in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi ended its partial lockdown in August. From the UAE, Pia and Jeremy went on to spend quality time in Turkey.
Based on her latest IG posts, it looks like Pia is back in the Philippines and is undergoing quarantine at a hotel in Makati.
