Japan B. League
MANILA, Philippines – The 2021 B. League season debut of the Shiga Lakestars and the San-en Neophoenix last October 2 drew over 250,000 viewers who watched online the matches shown by Tap Go Digital Media Ventures.
Tap Digital Media Ventures marketing manager Rely San Agustin bared the number following the games over the weekend.
“We are quite happy with the viewership numbers of last week’s games,” said San Agustin. “Even better were the superb performances of the Ravena brothers which surely made each and every Filipino fan proud. We hope that they and the rest of our local players will continue to give their 100% to the league. The whole nation is watching.”
San Agustin clarified the numbers do not include the viewership on the Tap Sports channel on Sky Cable and Cignal.
The Shiga Lakestars feature Kiefer Ravena while the San-en Neophoenix have his younger brother Thirdy.
In front of their home crowd at the Ukaru-Chan Arena, Kiefer’s Lakestars rallied from 22 points down to defeat the Neophoenix, 93-83, behind Kiefer’s 11 points and eight assists.
Thirdy gained his revenge as he was named player of the match in San-en’s stunning come-from-behind triumph in overtime, 101-96.
The younger Ravena scored 20 points and added seven rebounds and five assists.
Added San Agustin, “We will continue to find ways to provide extensive access to the B. League to the fans in the Philippines. As this is the league’s first year with Tap Sports and Tap GO, we are already planning ahead to make next season’s coverage even better.”
